Mt. Kuchima, otherwise known as Tecate Peak, is an ancient sacred area. The mountains in that area contain a number of natural formations that were incorporated into Native American culture, specifically of the Kumeyaay tribe. Fred Meagher, an amateur anthropologist, explains these rock formations and the lore that goes with them. These sites are near the proposed Blackwater West training facility, located just north of Potrero, California. The site of the Snake and Bird you see in this video is located east of Barrett Junction and west of the road to the Tecate border crossing.
