June 2008 Recommendations

The following recommendations are based on ECDC club endorsements, County, and State Endorsements.

• County Boardof Supervisors, District 2 - Rudy Reyes

Propositions

• Prop 98 - Eminent Domain, Limits on Government Authority -- NO
  This measure could have been good but they used it to sneak in the abolishment of rent control, which must be maintained in certain situations, especially in the case of mobile home parks, since it is quite an investment to get your pre-manufactured home moved to the site and installed. Owners have these residents over a barrel as it is very difficult to move. In other cases, rent control is needed to provide low-cost housing alternatives.

• Prop 99 - Eminent Domain, Limits on Government acquisition of owner-occupied residence. -- YES
  This measure is similar to Prop 98 except that it does not include the abolishment of rent control, and is more narrowly constructed so it only applies to residences.
