Bio

Peter is a native Southern Californian. Born in Pasadena in 1947, he attended Alhambra public schools. Peter received a BA from UCLA in 1971, a Masters of Divinity from Garrett Theological Seminary at Northwestern University, and ordained as a pastor in the United Methodist Church in 1974 (first serving at the Vista UMC). In 1983 after two years of additional graduate study, he received a Certificate in Spiritual Formation from the Upper Room's Academy for spiritual Formation in Nashville, TN. In June of 2001, Peter graduated with a Certificate in Environmental Studies from San Diego State University. Peter has been the Director of Environmental Ministries of Southern California since June of 1993.

Peter is married to the Rev. Dr. Emma Moore-Kochlas, Superintendent of hte San Diego District of the United Methodist Church. Daughter Caroline is a graduate of San Diego High School and a sophomore at Stanford University. Son Matt is a senior at Patrick Henry High School.
